Katie Schultz: Finding Reality, curated by John Quatrale, at the Athan’s Café Art Gallery, is an exhibition of acrylic, pastel and watercolor paintings that challenges everyone to explore and search for “the benevolent spiritual nature of the universe.” Katie’s colorful dreamy paintings portray many images and reflections from our minds and eyes. They capture the deep connections between the material and non-material worlds that constantly collide and intersect for all of us. The artist challenges us to examine with her those links between “earth, humankind and the supernatural” as she searches for the reality that is all around us physically and spiritually. A public reception is Sunday September 29th from 7:00-8:30 pm. The exhibition runs through October 31, 2013 and is open everyday from 8:00 am – 10:00 pm. Athan’s Café Art Gallery, 407 Washington St., Brighton Center, MA.| MBTA: Buses 57, 65, 86, 501, 503.
Katie Schultz, of Boston, is a member of Unbound Visual Arts. From a very early age she has been drawing and painting. She developed her art skills while travelling all over the United States, exploring both land and color. Since her return to Boston, she sold prints of her paintings as cards on the street, and outside Boston Public in Copley Square. She became an eternally grateful member of the Common Art Program, supplying artists in need with space, materials, and support. Katie has participated in several group exhibitions organized by Common Art, including one sponsored by Unbound Visual Arts. Katie recently organized the first group exhibition at Panera Cares Restaurant in Boston with fellow artists from Common Art. Katie also created the illustrations for a Halloween-themed children’s book entitled: Give Me Something Good To Eat, published 2012. and will be installing a sculpture in Charlton, MA which she designed and built with artist Heidi Lee for the Midstate Trail Art Project this September as well. This is her first one-person exhibition.
