KAT ROMANIK ART

Biography: I am a Boston based artist, a transplant from the Connecticut shoreline, and so the sea and the shore have always held a special fascination and magic for me. I spend a good deal of time on the Cape and the Vineyard in the warmer months, and set up around
Boston the remainder of the year. I am greatly inspired by nature and do my best work “en plein air.” At times when this is not available, I will often take a stroll and capture in images those bits and pieces that
inspire me. I return to the studio and let this flow. My main subjects are seascapes, landscapes, florals and still lifes, and a whimsical figure from time to time. I paint mainly in oil and / or acrylics, at times incorporating other materials – gold leaf, beading, glitter, and “found” materials – to enhance and embellish my work. I am mostly self taught, but have taken several classes and workshops at Creative Arts
Workshop in New Haven, CT, and Academy of Realist Art here in Boston, to help me hone and improve my skills. I have participated in shows at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Attleboro Arts
Museum, the City of Boston’s Fay Chandler Emerging Artists Exhibit, Beacon Hill Art Walk (Boston), and Essex Art Association(CT), among others. And I am just getting started!

Artist Statement:

~ I am a dreamer,

and a lover of the natural world ….
an observer, a conduit, a purveyor ….

There is a particular, subtle magic in the first few hours

after daybreak

I find my zen here …

~ Divinity flickering in the first rays of golden sunlight
through the branches of the forest
~ Sacredness shimmering atop the waves
as they caress a naked shoreline
~ Holiness bursting in the buds of the early spring light

…. An ephemeral meditation

In a world of violence, hate, heartbreak and disenchantment …
Love and Beauty can still heal.

“BEAUTY WILL SAVE THE WORLD” ~ Dostoevsky

If you are lost in these dark and trying times, I channel this beauty for
you ~ to bring you back to your heart ~ To your sacredness.

I grab my canvas, brush and paints
and walk along the edges of the early morning with you ~
